Verona’s historic centre is easy to explore on foot: the main sights are close together, and you can adapt the route to your available time and pace. This walk links famous squares, the river and historic landmarks without turning the day into a race.
From Piazza Bra to Piazza delle Erbe
Start in Piazza Bra, take in the Arena from outside, then follow Via Mazzini towards Piazza delle Erbe. The walk is short, but allow time to notice the historic façades and the lively market square. Piazza dei Signori and the Scaliger Tombs are only a few steps away.
Towards the Adige and Ponte Pietra
Walk down to the river and cross Ponte Pietra for a different view of the old town. From the Veronetta side, you can add the Roman Theatre or return to the central streets. The climb to Castel San Pietro is steep, but the panorama is a rewarding extra if you have time.
How much time should you allow?
Allow at least half a day for a relaxed walk with a few stops. A full day gives you time to add a museum or indoor visit and take a proper break. If you only have a few hours, focus on Piazza Bra, the Arena exterior, Piazza delle Erbe and the river.
Getting around and planning ahead
Wear comfortable shoes: historic paving can be uneven. If you arrive by train, follow our guide from Verona Porta Nuova to the centre. Check current opening hours and ticket conditions before planning an indoor visit; events can affect access to the Arena.
